An incredible and memorable day was had by our U16 Rugby Sevens team who were crowned Cup Winners of the Hampshire U16 Sevens at Alton Rugby Club.

The team started their pool matches with a battle against Portsmouth Grammar School which they drew 7-7.

They then went on to put a whole host of tries against Thornden and Priestlands to qualify for the cup on points difference. In the Cup semi-final vs Salesian College the team performed strongly, scoring three tries to one for Salesian.

The team then played Lord Wandsworth in the Cup final. The team applied great pressure at the start forcing a penalty try. It was all square at 7-7 at half-time, Ryde conjured up every ounce of energy to work their way back to 14-14 going into the final minute. Ryde showed incredible composure choosing to kick for touch with Ben putting us 5m out.

Final score was 19-14 and we took the Cup!
A huge well done to the team, and a massive thank you to the parents who came to support.
