British Keelboat League Champions!

Over the weekend our sailing team won the title of ‘Schools British Keelboat League Champions’ at Royal Thames Yacht Club!

The team travelled up Friday night, for an early start on Saturday where they were met with medium winds with high gusts at Queen Mary Reservoir in London. The Ryde teams started well with ‘Ryde Black’ leading and ‘Ryde Red’ 3rd after the first day.

Unfortunately, Kai was helming ‘Ryde White’ and picked up a bad injury causing them to miss some racing whilst he got glued-up in hospital and thanks to Mr H Bagnall and Zeb for stepping up to help.

The second day had much less wind causing the racing to be even closer. ‘Ryde Black’ had a good day by extending their lead and eventually winning the competition. Overall it was a great weekend with 42 races completed!

Congratulations to the sailors, to Miss Manser and Ms Dyer for their coaching and commitment and a special mention has to go to Kai who spent Saturday afternoon in hospital and Sunday back on the boat winning races. Well done Harry, who stepped in last minute on Friday, and Catherine and Mykyta who worked amazingly with their team.
