All Ryde School students receive Distinction in LAMDA Exam Results
Ryde School has been offering LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art training) for many years through the expert guidance and tuition of Ellen Weeks with hundreds of children taking the many levels of LAMDA exams over the years, many receiving distinctions for their performances.
This November 65 Island students achieved outstanding successes and of those 50 were from Ryde School, all of whom received distinctions, the highest level of attainment.
Pupils range in age from 5–17 years, taking exams from Introductory Stage 1 to Gold Medal in Verse & Prose and Acting. The candidates who entered Bronze, Silver and Gold Medal exams amassed an impressive total of 340 UCAS points between them, which will make an appreciable difference to their university applications.
Results of this quality have been sustained by Ellen Weeks for the past 17 years, with her students gaining an average of over 100 Distinction or Merit passes every single year.
Head Master, Mr Will Turner congratulated the pupils and Mrs Weeks, commenting:
‘The dedication the pupils and Mrs Weeks give to these performances is clearly evidenced in their successes. Overall the LAMDA programme offers far more than just exam results with confidence, poise and an ability to articulate clearly are all very good skills that pupils gain from following the LAMDA programme.’ |
Mrs Weeks said:
‘It is a privilege to teach these hard-working young people, and to help them develop confidence and essential communication and performance skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.’ |
