Old Rydeian Former Head Girl, Liberty Turrell (2021)
Exciting News Alert from an Old Rydeian!
We're thrilled to celebrate former Head Girl, Liberty Turrell (2021), whose groundbreaking research on microplastics in the Medina River has recently caught the attention of a major water company.
Liberty’s dedication and first-class honors dissertation bring much-needed awareness to critical environmental issues. Through her research, she discovered that most microplastic fibers originate from wastewater sources, like laundry, rather than plastic litter—a finding she described as "shocking."
