German Exchange with Gymnasium Immenstadt

A group of Year 11, 12 and 13 students have just completed the return leg of a very successful exchange programme with our partner school, Gymnasium Immenstadt in Bavaria, Germany.

They travelled to Immenstadt, in the Oberallgäu region of southern Bavaria in July to spend a week staying with their host partners and families. During the packed week they experienced German school life, hiked in the Alps, spent a day soaking up the sights, sounds and culture of Munich, visited the Winter Olympic town of Oberstdorf, climbed up a ski jump and even managed to visit the British Armed Forces Outdoor adventure centre.

The students were made to feel incredibly welcome by their hosts and had the opportunity to repay this when the German group visited the Isle of Wight last week. Again, the German students experienced what UK school life is like, visited Tapnell Water Park, Osborne House and Portsmouth Historic Docks, they then spent a day in London before travelling back to Germany. The students on both sides of the exchange have hopefully made some long lasting friendships and we know there are already plans for return visits. We would like to thank the parents and families on both sides for the warmth and hospitality they showed in welcoming the visiting students into their homes. We are already making plans for the next exchange so look out for information on this in the New Year.
