INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY 2025
Last week two CCF cadets travelled up to London to attend the Royal Navy International Women's Day conference. Katie and Emily spent the day talking and engaging with personnel from the Royal Navy. The day was filled with speeches from different ranks and roles in the Navy talking about their careers as well as what it is like to be a woman in the military.
Filmmaker Chris Terrill shared inspiring stories from his time filming with the Navy, highlighting the remarkable contributions of women in Afghanistan, during the Boxing Day tsunami, and within his own family's naval history. The day ended with speeches from students and Katie gave an incredible speech about her time in the CCF and what she hopes to do later in life.
She talked about her experiences at naval establishments including the Britannia Royal Naval College where they train Naval officers, and even got a few laughs from the audience.
Overall, a great trip and experience for both girls. Thank you to Lt Broye and Mrs Hayter for providing an incredible trip full of laughter and encouragement, and thank you to the Royal Navy for inviting the School to this incredible event.
