Exciting trip to our sister school in Northern Ghana

Head of Year 9 and the Silver DofE, Mrs Ball, has returned home with our students and staff from their very exciting trip to visit our sister school in Northern Ghana - Nako School, Wa.

The students had been planning, fundraising, working and saving for nearly three years and were rewarded with a 1am ferry on Wednesday 19 October to start this adventure of a lifetime.

Ten days were spent in Wa where they taught lessons on Geography, Physics, Spanish and the daily event in the Kindergarten class of Bingo! To help with their number recognition, new designs were created to bring their classrooms to life, whole buildings were painted and solutions found to an overflowing well pump which was slowly flooding the primary school.

Our students and teachers finished off their trip with a few days in Cape Coast to learn about the impact of the slave trade on Ghana, explore one of their National Parks to learn about the need for conservation, and finally have an afternoon of down time on the beach before the journey home.

This was truly a trip of a lifetime. Friendships were formed and memories made which will stay with these 12 students forever.
