ESU Public Speaking
Competition & Awards Trips

Two Year 9 teams took part in the ESU Public Speaking competition in Southampton last week. None of them had taken part in anything of this kind before and they all did very well despite very real nerves and being the youngest competitors there!

The teams were Erin (main speaker, speaking in favour of re-nationalisation), Angus (chair) and Otis (questioner) and Daisy  (main speaker, discussing the problems caused by plastic packaging and possible solutions), Keira (chair) and Sara (questioner). Daisy, Keira and Sara finished in second place overall and will therefore go forward to the Salisbury and South branch regional final in the New Year. Daisy also won the individual award for best speaker overall and was, indeed, outstandingly good. Erin, who also spoke extremely well, won the individual award for ‘Outstanding Personality'.
