Friday Introduction - Maintenance Alan

Friday Introduction - Maintenance Alan
Senior School

It is time for another #FridayIntroduction and today we have had the pleasure of speaking with Alan from our Maintenance team.

Always smiling and happy to chat, Alan has enjoyed working at Ryde School for over 21 years and said no two days have been the same.

From changing light bulbs to small building works, Alan does it all! Often found in our Bembridge Building “lifting and shifting” (as Alan likes to call it) all our heavy shipments and peculiar shaped boxes. Alan delivers these parcels to the correct department on his favourite mode of transport - the mule (pictured).

The most notable project Alan has worked on is our Keith Symons Pavilion Coffee Shop where he helped rip out the old changing rooms and rebuild the brand new coffee shop between two of our sports fields.

Prior to his career at Ryde School Alan worked in maintenance for over a decade along Ryde Seafront, he enjoys being outside and said we definitely won’t find him sat behind a desk anytime soon!
When we asked Alan what he loves about his position at Ryde School he said “working alongside the other grounds people, gardeners, electricians and of course my team in maintenance”.

Alan said his favourite place on the Isle of Wight is his home, but added that he does like to go fishing in Chale on the south of the Island when he has some spare time.
