Old Rydeian Giles Clarke came to visit our Senior School pupils this week to share about his work in a ‘Lunchtime Lecture’.

Giles, a 1983 graduate of Ryde School, is a photojournalist who captures poignant moments of global issues, focusing on current and post-conflict settings. Based in New York, he primarily works with Getty Images Reportage and syndicates his news and feature work as a featured contributor. His assignments take him around the world, documenting the impacts of war, poverty, refugee and migrant crisis, natural disasters, and environmental issues. He has collaborated with renowned organizations and publications such as the UN, the New York Times, and CNN. His work has earned numerous prestigious awards, including First Prize from the National Press Photographers Association in 2016 for his Haiti series "Waste In Time". He was also awarded a Lucie Statue at Carnegie Hall in 2017 for "Yemen In Crisis."

The Head Master spoke to Giles about his work, giving students a fascinating glimpse into his remarkable career.
